Average hotel room rates in Miami were up 4 percent last month compared
to the same period in 2010, according to the Greater Miami Convention
& Visitors Bureau. Occupancy, however, fell by .8 percent in that
period, according to the bureau, which used data from Smith Travel
Research. That figure was the second highest in the U.S. in occupancy
percentage, following New York. The average daily room rate in Miami was
$171.51. The decrease in occupancy was likely due to snowstorms in the
north, which kept some visitors from arriving in the city. [SFBJ]
