Case-Shiller: new housing low in SF

Home prices in Palm Beach, Broward and Miami-Dade counties dropped 3.7
percent at the end of 2010, according to a report from Standard &
Poor’s/Case-Shiller. The Case-Shiller index for the tri-county area was
at 143.11 in December 2010, which is 49 percent below its peak from December
2006. “We ended 2010 with a weak report,” said David Blitzer, chairman
of the index committee. “The National Index is down 4.1 percent from the
fourth quarter of 2009 and 18 of 20 cities are down over the last 12
