Probe for eighth foreclosure firm

The Florida Attorney General is investigating Ben-Ezra & Katz, a
foreclosure firm based in Hollywood, making it the eighth firm to be
investigated for allegedly improper foreclosure practices. Last week,
Ben-Ezra laid off 236 of its 568 employees. Ben-Ezra spokesperson Ray
Casas declined to comment on the state investigation. This month,
Miami-Dade Circuit Judge Maxine Cohen Lando castigated partner Marc
Ben-Ezra for “wasting the court’s time” by filing “sham foreclosure
documents” involving the foreclosure of a Homestead property. He was
cited by Lando for contempt. [Sun
