J. Richard Allison, Sr., the so-called “dean of Palm Beach real estate,”
died Friday at the age of 72. Allison, who entered the real estate
business in 1985, worked for Cutler Real Estate, Sotheby’s and Martha A.
Gottfried before starting his own firm, J. Richard Allison and
Associates, in 1992. “You’ve got to know the market inside-out,” he said
in an interview in 2004. Allison showed Michael Jackson a home
when the entertainer was looking in Palm Beach; the town’s
code would not allow animals on the grounds, however, and Jackson flew
the next day to Orlando, Allison had said. [Palm
