Uncertain future for condo ombudsman

The Office of the Condominium Ombudsman in Florida could be done away
with if a new bill passes in the legislature. The bill, which seeks to
shut down the Division of Florida Condominiums, Timeshares and Mobile
Homes, could also do away with the ombudsman’s office, which purports to
handle several bureaucratic tasks, including acting as a liaison
between the division and unit owners and other condo officers,
monitoring condo election disputes and other issues. There are currently
two offices of the ombudsman, one each in Tallahassee and Fort Lauderdale. [Sun
