Scott supports property insurer changes

During Gov. Scott’s “Facebook town hall” yesterday, he supported changes
to the state’s property insurance system. “We need to make sure we have
a robust insurance market, where the private wants to do business in
Florida so Florida taxpayers are not on the hook,” he said. “We need to
deal with the significant cost of sinkhole coverage for homeowners and
how that impacts the cost of property insurance.” The governor could
support several bills coming before the legislature this year, including
one that would shorten the time policyholders have to file hurricane
and sinkhole claims, along with one that would allow premium increases
without regulator approval. [Palm
