Lake Worth-based Reliance, which performs loan modifications and
provides debt settlement services, has been operating for three months
without a valid license, according to state regulators. The state
received the company’s application in mid-March and is in the process of
considering it, said Flora Beal, spokesperson for the Florida Office of
Financial Regulation. She also said Reliance CEO Enrique Rodriguez,
along with other employees, have individual mortgage broker’s licenses.
“I go in every day and help homeowners,” said Rodriguez, who insisted he
was complying with Florida law. “We are an honest company, and we do
everything by the books.” [Sun
