The office of Florida Attorney General Pam Bondi has filed a lawsuit
against three South Florida companies that were allegedly charging
upfront fees for loan modification services, a violation of state law.
The three companies, Home Owner Protection Economics, DC Financial Group
and Deleverage America, were allegedly collecting thousands of dollars
in monthly upfront charges for services which were never provided. The
defendants’ assets were frozen by an order of the Palm Beach County
Circuit Court. An investigation by Bondi’s office indicated that the
fees ranged from $495 to $2,000 per client. TRD
