Florida Gaming has received a state license to build Las Vegas-style slot machines at the Miami Jai-Alai, near the Miami International Airport. The property is slated to undergo an $87 million renovation over the next year, resulting in a new casino floor. Florida Gaming just announced funding for the casino rehab earlier this week, and now it has the approval to include 1,000 slot machines in its plans. “We are moving forward with construction and marketing plans,” said Florida Gaming Chairman William Collett. “We believe the expanded gaming products will allow Miami Jai-Alai to regain its position among South Florida’s top entertainment destinations.” [SFBJ]
