The new president of Florida Memorial University, the only historically black college in South Florida, is looking to begin a slew of new development projects over the next 10 years in order to accommodate his plans to increase the school’s enrollment by 1,500 students. According to the Miami Herald, Henry Lewis III, who took over as president of FMU in February, said he wants dorms with 360 new beds and two new wings with a computer lab, tutorial lab and a recreational facility that’s already under construction — at a cost yet to be determined. He said he’s already received commitments from two local church associations to double their $1 million yearly contributions. [Miami Herald]
