Mexicans look to Miami market

East Coast Opportunity group has an office in Brickell’s Latitude
building on Southwest Seventh Street. The company uses mostly Mexican
investment funds to purchase distressed properties and then refurbish
them. Mexican money flowing into Miami is part of a growing national
trend. Although Mexican businesses are focused on cities like Houston
and San Diego, an increasing number are looking to Miami. “Miami is very
important for us because we see it as the gateway to the United States
for Latin America and Europe,” said ECO’s Mario Alonso. “It’s probably
the second or third-most important financial center in the United
States. A lot of foreign money is coming here.” [Miami
