Bernard Zyscovich, the South Florida architect behind projects like 1390 Brickell Bay, 2 Midtown and the Flamingo South Beach, has been named as a guarantor in a lawsuit seeking to foreclose on a Coral Gables apartment project, the South Florida Business Journal reported. The lawsuit, filed Tuesday by Mercantil Commercebank, concerns a $5.8 million mortgage taken out by Gan Group when it bought six sites on a Coral Gables block in 2006 for a total of $8.4 million. The sites — 2001 Galiano Street, 20 and 42 Navarre Avenue, and 33, 43 and 47 Alhambra Circle — currently contain 31 older apartment units, and Gan had also applied to build an eight-story, Mediterranean-style apartment building there, though construction never got off the ground. Zyscovich is the principal of his Miami-based Zyscovich Architects, which is not named in the complaint. The other guarantors named in the suit are Gino Falsetto, Gerri Vittorio and Luciano Montorfani. [SFBJ, 1st item]
