After CBS’ recent “60 Minutes” segment on foreclosure fraud in Palm Beach County, officials nationwide are taking notice and beginning to reject foreclosure documents signed by known robo-signers. “My registry will not be a knowing participant in this fraud against homeowners,” John O’Brien, Massachusetts Register of Deeds, said Tuesday. “From today forward, lenders be on notice, the Southern Essex District Registry of Deeds will not record robo-signed documents.” In the “60 Minutes” segment, Palm Beach Gardens homeowner Lynn Szymoniak caught processing company employee Linda Green forging signatures and robo-signing documents after doing research into the foreclosure of her own home. O’Brien said he has found 22 versions of Green’s signature on documents filed with his office and will stop recording them, and those of any other robo-signers he finds out about, going forward.
