Kechevella Wallace, assistant director of Palm Beach County’s Housing Authority, has been arrested on charges of grand theft, official misconduct, public assistance fraud and organized scheme to defraud. She is accused of lying to get a discounted apartment and then renting it at a profit to her ex-boyfriend, according to the Palm Beach Post.

Wallace, who oversees the waiting list to qualify for government subsidized housing, also allegedly illegally obtained a local housing voucher for her sister, Dougkindra Wallace.

County Sheriff’s investigators allege that Wallace received almost four years of public assistance benefits totaling $55,156 to which she was not entitled.

Three other employees at the housing authority have been arrested for their alleged involvement in the scheme. [Palm Beach Post]
