The Merrill-Stevens Dry Dock, which has been on the Miami River since
the 1920s, was purchased from Coconut Grove Bank for $6.6 million
earlier this year, according to Horacio Aguirre of Dixon Commercial Real
Estate. The boatyard will undergo a two-year renovation project by the
buyer, David Marlow, who is the chairman of Marlow Yachts in Palmetto,
Fla. “His plan is to turn Merrill-Stevens into a pristine, modern
example of what a yacht yard should be,” said Aguirre. “Right now it’s
charming, but it’s a little seedy. David Marlow is a gift. This is just
what this industry needed.” [Miami
