A plan to demolish a caretaker’s cottage on the course of the Palm Beach
Country Club has not satisfied Palm Beach’s Architectural Review
Commission, the Palm Beach Daily News reported. The proposal, which would replace the small cottage with a
structure that is almost four times bigger, was rejected by commission
members for the second month in a row. The challenge, architect Tom
Youchak said, was enlarging the cottage without infringing on the
fairway. “I moved this house as much as I could,” he said. “This is a
second landing area where the balls come down. Moving the house into
this fifth fairway, it would be a target.” That sentiment was not well
received by ARCOM Chairman Jeff Smith, who said the proposed
5,500-square-foot house should be made smaller. [Palm
