Coleman Park residents receive free energy-saving home makeovers

Almost 50 homes in the Coleman Park neighborhood of West Palm Beach received an energy efficiency makeover yesterday in the hopes of saving more than $100 a month in electric bill savings, according to the Palm Beach Post. The chosen 50 were the quickest to respond to a pamphlet advertising the service.

The makeovers were carried out by 12 FPL Home Energy Makeover teams, city employees and volunteers. One homeowner, Demetric Johnson said that she expected one or two workers to turn up, change lightbulbs and perhaps provide her with energy-saving tips.

“I open the door and see the entire staff on my front lawn,” Johnson said.

Instead, she received a free air-conditioning filter, insulation, duct work, low-flow faucets and weatherization, as well as an explanation of what was costing them the most money. [Palm Beach Post]
