Couple opts out of drywall settlement

Charles and Sandra Puckett, who were part of the Chinese drywall
class-action lawsuit that resulted in a $54.5 million settlement by
supplier Banner, have opted out of the settlement to pursue their own
case. Banner’s settlement included 2,000 homeowners who had suffered
from tainted Chinese drywall. “The reason Banner settled is they were
hoping not to go into bankruptcy,” said Ervin Gonzalez, the Pucketts’
attorney. “A bankruptcy proceeding would tie up the litigation.” [SFBJ]
