The structural foundation at the Miami Art Museum has been completed,
with vertical development now set to begin. The museum, which was
designed by architects Herzog & de Meuron (who also designed the
1111 Lincoln Road project), is scheduled to open in 2013. The $200
million, 200,000-square-foot project has been designed for LEED Silver
certification from the U.S. Green Buildings Council. It sits across from
the area that has been dubbed Miami’s Park Avenue. “The construction of
our Museum Park home is in many ways a means to an end as we work to
broaden MAM’s impact in the community,” said Thomas Collins, the
director of the museum. — Alexander
