Florida’s main economic drivers, including real estate, rentals and tourism, all showed a marked improvement in June, according to a report from the Florida Chamber of Commerce, released today.
Employment levels in both commercial and residential real estate grew by 3.2 percent over June 2010 figures, the report, cited by the Pensacola News Journal, shows, despite a stagnant overall 10.6 percent jobless rate.
Job growth in tourism, food services, arts and entertainment also showed a 5.4 percent improvement over last year.
However, employment levels for construction workers continued to decrease, dropping 1.7 percent year over year and losing 13.7 percent of jobs in the construction of commercial building. [PNJ]
