Public office remains in play for The Donald

Donald Trump more than made up for three months of not having his name attached to public office yesterday, when his name was linked to not one, but two positions — treasury secretary and, once again, president.

While discussing S&P’s recent downgrade of the U.S. credit rating on CNN, Trump said he would “consider” running on the independent ticket “if the economy continues to go the way it’s going, and if the Republicans pick the wrong candidate,” ABC News reported. He said it might be time for an independent candidate.

In May, The Donald withdrew his bid for the republican presidential nomination.

Meanwhile, earlier yesterday on Fox News, presidential candidate-turned-talking head Mike Huckabee suggested Trump would make the perfect Timothy Geithner replacement for treasury secretary, according to the New York Daily News. “Have Donald Trump take the job for 90 days,” he said. “It would be a game changer.”

Trump later told the network he wasn’t interested in the job, and that even if he was, President Obama wold have a hard time appointing him to the cabinet “after the way I talk[ed] about him.” Two weeks ago, he urged the GOP to use the debt deal to ensure Obama does not get reelected. But he agreed with the assertion that the president should keep an eye on the business world to fill a position Geithner said he would not vacate.

“Obama should be calling the smartest people we have in business,” Trump said. “My type — guys that have done really well, great business people.”
