Robb & Stucky makes a comeback, scouts space in Florida

Fort Myers-based furniture retailer Robb & Stucky may be making a comeback, the South Florida Business Journal reported, after the company was forced into liquidation earlier this year. The company is currently operating under a new owner, Asian furniture mogul Samuel Kuo, who plans to reestabilsh the brand on the west coast of Florida — Coral Gables, Boca Raton or Orlando.

Monette Klein-O’Grady, co-founder of Prime Sites, the brokerage hired to find space for the store, said they’re looking for around 40,000 to 60,000 square feet.

“We are looking at Florida as a whole and where we have proven markets through the multitargeted areas where [Robb & Stucky] existed,” she said. “We are looking at everything: how centers might be rebranded because of an anchor of this caliber, freestanding buildings… We are capable of walking in and purchasing [a building], which is what we want to do when we can.” Robb & Stucky’s bankruptcy filing had little impact on the commercial real estate market in the area, The Real Deal previously reported.
