This week, Palm Beach council officials said there were still questions about whether it would accept the historic Stambaugh Cottage in Palm Beach as a gift, including how much it would cost to maintain, the Palm Beach Daily News reported.
The Stambaugh family has been raising money to move the cottage onto a barge and relocate it to Phipps Ocean Park to save it from demolition. The Palm Beach Country Club had suggested demolishing the home to make way for a new caretaker’s facility but will accommodate the Stambaugh family’s attempts to salvage the property by donating it to the town.
In July, the Architectural Review Commission approved the country club’s plan for a new 4,600-square-foot residence on the site, the Daily News said. [Palm Beach Daily News]
