Florida’s courts cleared 201,524 foreclosure cases from its backlog in 2010 thanks to an additional $6 million in funding from legislators, the Palm Beach Post reported, but over 50 percent of the cases were dismissals, most likely initiated by banks which had filed paperwork incorrectly. The statewide foreclosure backlog now stands at 260,815 cases, including 23,725 in Palm Beach County, according to the Office of State Courts Administrator. “It was money well spent for the banks and the courts, but not for Floridians and homeowners,” said Boca Raton-based foreclosure defense attorney Ron Kaniuk.
