A Florida woman who fought an extended battle to save her house from foreclosure for more than 25 years, has finally lost her home in Okeechobee, the Wall Street Journal reported. The home was sold off at a foreclosure auction yesterday by lender Commercial Service of Perry.
A Florida Circuit Court judge ruled last week that Patsy Campbell owed $230,770 on the house, which her deceased husband bought for $63,801 in 1978. She will have 10 days to vacate the property.
In a February interview with the Journal, she said she told the court, “No, I’m not going to pay the debt because I’m bankrupt.” [WSJ]
