Dogfight over condo pets

The Maybury Mansions community in Fort Lauderdale is the scene of a
battle between unit owners and the association after the condominium
allegedly began enforcing a long-dormant policy against pets. “This is a
very stressful and overwhelming situation, it is causing a real
division in our community and causing my blood pressure to rise,” said
Barbara DeFranscisco, fiancee of George Stevens, who owns a unit at the
condo. “We have notes from doctors saying how important our dog is to
our health, but the board says that is not good enough.” Other owners
said they agreed with the new measures, and that the rules had been
