Developer Bruce Eichner removed himself from the running for the troubled Biscayne Landing site Friday, ahead of a city deadline on the project. His decision came apparently because of what he interpreted as a requirement by the city that the developer “expend in excess of $50 million before any income is derived from the project.” Eichner had been competing with fellow developer Michael Swerdlow, who was one of the original developers behind the project, which is next to Florida International University’s Biscayne campus. Eichner said he could return to the process if his concerns were to “dissipate,” he said. [SFBJ]
