Is joining the U.N. comparable to passing a co-op board?

Are the challenges that the Palestinians face in becoming full members
of the United Nations similar to the challenges of dealing with
difficult members of a co-op board? That’s what Jon Stewart of “The
Daily Show” suggested last night on his Comedy Central program in response to news reports about the
application process for the U.N. membership and the objections the
Palestinians face from Israel, the United States and some other
countries (see video above).
