A 90-bed substance abuse rehabilitation facility is set to open inside a for-sale commercial building at 444 Bunker Road in the south end neighborhood of Palm Beach, the Palm Beach Post reported, pending a decision from the city’s planning and zoning board of appeals Oct. 6.
Some residents are not keen on a rehab facility coming to the South End. Commissioner Bill Moss also opposes the facility, though the decision ultimately rests with the planning and zoning appeals board, the Post said.
Moss said facilities such as these are often mixed bags.
“[I don’t] have a problem when they’re smaller facilities where they can have direct supervision and can work with the people,” he said. [Palm Beach Post]
