The Seminole Casino in Coconut Creek is expanding its facilities in
Broward County, with a $150 million project that will be completed in
January. The project is slated to add 800 jobs to the area, and includes
a 120,000-square-foot casino. “Ten years ago this area was just a pond,”
said Tribal Chairman James Billie. “When I flew in I didn’t recognize
it. Look at it now, 1000 employees and 800 more.” Construction began in
June on the project, which is part of a wave of interest in casino
development, highlighted by Genting’s proposal for the Miami Herald
site. [NBC
