Palm Beach realtor Douglas Kirlan has sued energy mogul Bill Koch,
claiming Koch cut him out of a deal involving the purchase of a 12-acre
athletic-field project at Koch’s private high school, Oxbridge Academy.
According to Kirlan, he informed Koch of the land via emails to his
staff but never received any compensation. Koch’s spokesperson, Brad
Goldstein, said that Kirlan is simply looking for a handout, and that
school officials from Oxbridge dealt exclusively with the land’s owner,
Hovsite Catalina, and Cushman & Wakefield, which was hired by
Hovsite. “There was a for sale sign on that property for months,”
Goldstein said. “Every motorist could see it. I don’t know what [Kirlan]
is talking about.” [Forbes]
