Sales of single-family homes and condominiums in Broward County rose 13 percent in the third quarter, according to a report from the Miami Association of Realtors. Sales prices saw a small increase as well, with a 3 percent jump in the median sales price of condos and a 1 percent rise in the median sales price of single-family homes. “The Broward County market continues to strengthen as reflected by sales and pricing activity in the third quarter,” said Terri Bersach, president of the Broward County Board of Governors of the Miami Association of Realtors. “The local area has recovered faster and stronger than the rest of the U.S., and we expect to set a new sales record in 2011, pointing to rising demand and stability.” National Association of Realtors Chief Economist Laurence Yun predicted yesterday that 2012 would bring double-digit price increases in South Florida. — Alexander Britell
