Lawyer Carol Asbury, who was convicted for her part in a $2.5 million mortgage scam at Wellington’s Versailles community, has been sentenced to two and a half years in prison, according to the Palm Beach Post. “In my judgment, when you commit a multi-million dollar fraud even in an otherwise law-abiding life, you can’t just say I’m sorry and everything is forgiven,” said U.S. District Judge Kenneth Marra. She did receive a break from what could have been a six-and-a-half year sentence for helping to bring down others involved. “For eight months of my life I made bad decisions,” Asbury told the judge. “Please don’t let it define my life.” [Palm Beach Post]
