LMC purchases Boston Scientific facility, potentially for new headquarters

8600 NW 41st StreetMiami-based health company Leon Medical Centers expanded on Friday by purchasing the former Boston Scientific manufacturing facility in Doral for $15 million, the South Florida Business Journal reported.

The deal gives LMC a 364,000-square-foot building on 13.7 acres at 8600 NW 41st Street. Holliday Fenoglio Fowler represented LMC, while Fairchild Partners represented Boston Scientific.

The purchase is part of an expansion the company has been undergoing whilst gaining new members from Medicare, the Journal said, and is a cheaper alternative than building a new center ground-up. LMC said it expects the newly purchased location to open in the fall of 2013 with more than 1,000 employees, and could even move its headquarters there.

The firm has seven health centers, most recently adding 21,106 square feet of offices near its Miami location in June. [SFBJ]
