With ever-expanding business, Apple looked to move its Lincoln Road
location to a new, bigger space, but the plan encountered obstacles, with
preservationists seeking to protect the building Apple intended to demolish
to make room for the new building. Ultimately, the company withdrew the
plan. Now, while Apple says it won’t move from Miami Beach,
rumors suggest otherwise. “It was unfortunate what happened,” said Miami
Beach Mayor Matti Bower. “I made the overture because they are good
people to have in Miami Beach. They bring people here. I said I would
help in any way to make them happy, and they assured me they’re going to
