A new shopping center planned for Okeechobee Boulevard in West Palm Beach may not go ahead as the result of a disagreement amongst the Loxahatchee Groves Town Council, wptv.com reported.
Town Mayor David Browning thinks adding a restaurant, retail shops, offices and a gun range on the corner is not in fitting with his town, which is known for its nature. “It is not a strip mall, but it adds up to about 60,000 square feet on a little more than 9 acres,” he said. “That’s pretty intensive.”
But Vice Mayor Ryan Liang thinks the addition could be a positive thing for the area.”There’s a lot of traffic there and it is next to another commercial with the Red Barn so it could be a good spot for commercial,” he said. “Small businesses, small retail stores and maybe some small offices. That could possibly provide jobs for people in the community.” [WPTV]
