An Occupy Miami camp was broken up by police last night in Overtown, according to the Miami Herald. Several protesters did not wish to leave, but ultimately did after a brief detention by police. Following the move, the group’s leaders said they would now spread to other camps around Miami-Dade County. “We’ve already got new locations picked out,” said Miami Beach activist Muhammed Malik. “But this is way beyond locations. This is a moment in history.” The camp dismantling was not unexpected, after protesters received an eviction notice this weekend. [Miami Herald]
