Broward title company president charged in mortgage fraud scheme

Parkland resident Michelle Austin-Wilks, the president of a Broward County title and escrow company, has been charged in an information for her alleged role in a multi-million-dollar mortgage fraud scheme, United States Attorney Wifredo Ferrer announced today. According to the information, Austin-Wilks and others engaged in a scheme to fraudulently buy and sell property through straw buyers. She has been charged with four counts of wire fraud and could face up to 30 years’ imprisonment on each count. — Alexander Britell
