FPL seeks rate hike

Florida Power & Light is planning a rate increase of $6.97 per month, following a request filed today, the Sun Sentinel reported. According to the company, lower fuel costs could trim electrical bills, meaning the net increase for homeowners would be around $2.48 per month. An average bill for a user of 1,000 kilowatts would pay approximately $97.10, up from the current average of $94.62. It is the first base rate hike planned for the company since 2009. [Sun Sentinel]
