Genting Group put Arquitectonica to work to deisgn new renderings for a more modest development along Biscayne Bay, the South Florida Business Jourla reported.
The new proposal would include condominiums, a hotel and restaruants for five of the site’s 13.9 acres.
Genting wants to drastically downsize the project from a four-hotel development with sky-high buildings to one that fits with existing development after officials shot down an expanded gambling proposal. The new design would still leave room for a casino to be added in future phases though, the Journal said.
The firm is still aimed at transforming the former site of the Miami Herald “into a downtown focal point and pedestrian-friendly gathering palce,” Genting told the Journal. [SFBJ]
