RelatedISG expands into general brokerage, eyes 150 agents by end of 2012

RelatedISG, the sales company that launched in June to market new Related developments like Hollywood’s Apogee Beach, is expanding beyond exclusive developer sales into a general real estate brokerage.

The firm has tapped Deborah Golden, former president and owner of Aventura-based Golden & Company, as its managing director of sales and operations.

“We just saw the time being right as the new market seems to be taking off to enter into an area that we, as ISG, had never really nurtured before,” RelatedISG Principal Philip Spiegelman told The Real Deal.

RelatedISG expects to increase a team of 75 Realtors into 150 by the end of the year across offices in Aventura, Brickell and two in South Beach’s South of Fifth neighborhood.

RelatedISG, which announced its new company in June, has been marketing the group of new Related projects to launch sales in the last few months, including downtown Miami’s MyBrickell, which has 85 percent of its future units under contract.

“[General brokerage] wasn’t our primary business,” he said. “We were always exclusive consultants to developers. But given this new relationship with Related, we thought it was a good opportunity to marry the two brands, and build a general real estate platform.”

Golden said the firm would look to continue to target the Latin American buyers who have been propelling Miami’s market.

“We have a lot of international clients that may need to lease out their units, to buy other units in different buildings,” she said. “A lot of them want ready projects, and some want pre-construction. So it gives us the opportunity to service all of our clients and their needs.”

According to Spiegelman, the company “has every intention” of expanding, both into Coral Gables and possibly into Weston.

Golden said RelatedISG would eventually look to expand across Florida.

“We have a big appetite, as you can imagine,” Spiegelman said. “We’re not going to be satisfied with any one particular market.”

The move mirrors a similar partnership between Related and Cervera Real Estate, Related Cervera, which separated from Related prior to the formation of Related ISG.

Cervera Realty is now an independent brokerage.
