Construction begins on Miami’s first Cambria Suites

Choice Hotels International and Sunflower Hospitality broke ground today on a new 122-room Cambria Suites hotel near the Miami International Airport, the firms announced today.

The $16 million seven-story hotel is rising on the 6700 block of NW 7th Street, along Highway 836, and is slated to be complete in the summer of 2013. It will have a 1,800-square-foot conference space and an outdoor terrace with a pool.

The hotel marks the second Cambria Suites flag in the state and the next step in the brand’s continued push into more urban markets like New York City, Washington, D.C. and Miami. The other Florida location is situated near the Fort Lauderdale International Airport.

The suites will be larger than standard hotel rooms and offer free high-speed internet access. The hotel will also feature the casual dining restaurant, fitness center and 24/7 convenience store featured in all Cambria Suites properties. — Adam Fusfeld
