Eden Roc sues Marriott

Miami Beach’s Eden Roc Renaissance Hotel filed a $75 million suit against Marriot International, Bloomberg News reported, accusing it of “gross mismanagement.” Eden Roc’s owners, Eden Roc LLC, allege that Marriott offered discounted bookings for years despite the $240 million investment the firm made to renovate the hotel.

Meanwhile, they note, Marriott accrued management fees even as their discounts weakened the property’s profits.

The renovation involved completely gutting the circa-1956 21-floor, 631-room hotel at 4525 Collins Avenue in Miami Beach. In the summer, the hotel added an Elle Decor-designed luxury spa. Weekend rates start at $339 per night. [Bloomberg]
