Florida Power & Light opens new storm “command center” in Riviera Beach

Florida Power & Light has aggregated its storm operations at a new $3.8 million “command center” close to the Rapid Water Park in Riviera Beach, the Sun Sentinel reported. The facility, which will house 140 emergency responders, can endure a Category 5 hurricane. The Riviera Beach location replaces the company’s Miami-area center. Last week, FPL held a simulation at the site of a Category 3 hurricane. [Sun Sentinel]
