West Palm Beach Housing Authority raided by HUD

May 31, 2012 03:45PM

This week 13 U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development agents executed an unannounced raid on the West Palm Beach Housing Authority, according to the Palm Beach Post. The agents removed boxes and bags of paperwork regarding a Section 8 housing program designed to help low-income citizens pay off their mortgages. The search is part of Federal investigation into fraud. “I was somewhat taken aback,” said Laurel Robinson, executive director of the housing authority. “They wanted to look at the files associated with the Section 8 home ownership program, and I said, ‘sure, no problem.'” [Palm Beach Post]
