Beach One Resort developer sues Hallandale over right to beach access
Although construction has not yet begun on the Beach One Resort, developer Mazal Tov is suing the city of Hallandale Beach over beach access for the firm’s new 477-room high rise, the Sun Sentinel reported. While the 1.6-acre lot under dispute, which is located at the northeast corner of South Ocean Drive and Hallandale Beach Boulevard, is technically in Hollywood, its beach access point is in Hallandale.
A Hallandale park-improvement plan calls for the elimination of a 20-foot right of way dedicated to beach access, which would effectively cut the resort off from the shore. The city of Hallendale Beach has already sued the company twice over the 41-story project for reasons including zoning and increased strain on the local fire station. [Sun Sentinel]
