Wells Fargo wins $2M judgment against Chabad school in Boca Raton

The Jewish school Friends of Chabad of Boca Raton and Torah Tots Academy is set to be sold during an online foreclosure auction July 26, the South Florida Business Journal reported. Palm Beach County Circuit Judge David Crow ruled in favor of Wells Fargo, awarding the bank a $2.2 million judgment against the non-profit for defaulting on its mortgage — including interest — on June 14. The 23,112-square-foot school hosts a Hebrew school, Torah Tots pre-school and Camp Gan Israel summer program. It is located at 17950 Military Trail in Boca Raton.

Earlier this month, Chabad proposed building a 40-seat synagogue on 361 South County Road to Palm Beach’s Town Council. The project was met with opposition from some locals based on potential traffic and parking concerns. [SFBJ]
