Grand Central Station in Miami?

Florida East Coast Industries wants to build a “destination” train station in Miami in the vein of Grand Central Station in New York, the South Florida Business Journal reported. “Everything is on the table,” Husein Cumber, who is spearheading the drive for passenger service in 2014 from Miami to Orlando, told the Miami Commission. FECI currently owns nine acres in downtown Miami west of NW 1st Avenue between NW 1st Street and NW 8th Street. Construction could begin next year. [SFBJ]
