Palmetto Bay has approved a four-month moratorium on development, the Miami Herald reported. The building permits freeze got the nod by a 3-2 vote, which only applies to residential properties larger than an acre. The change is aimed at giving the town’s council time to rewrite its development and zoning code. “I am working diligently with our village attorney, and it is our goal to get this done,” said Council Member Joan Lindsay. “It is our goal to get this done.” Critics of the freeze said it was aimed at preventing development of schools and churches, particularly the Palmer Trinity private school.
