Developer Jeff Greene being fined by Palm Beach council for renovation delays

Developer and onetime Senate candidate Jeff Greene is facing a fine from Palm Beach’s town council, the Palm Beach Daily News reported. The $2,000-per-day penalty stems from a deadline by which he was supposed to have completed his renovation of the inside of Palm Beach’s onetime post office building on North County Road. Greene had pledged to finish the job by June 30, but said excess rain caused delays on the project. Palm Beach’s town council said a “lack of due diligence,” not the weather, had been the cause, however. “You hadn’t done your homework,” Council President David Rosow told project manager Hunter Johnson. Greene lost a Democratic primary bid to Kendrick Meek in 2010. [Palm Beach Daily News]
